Hi Mark. With all due respect, I read your article but am a little confused. How did you approach church personnel with your offer to sing? Not to be argumentative, but I can see the church's point of view. They don't know you from Adam. They haven't had a chance to get to know your character. Did you even attend their New Members class? Once a church allows someone to step onto their stage in an official capacity, you automatically command the respect/authority as a church representative. It is not something a church should take lightly. Imagine if a stranger approached a church and said: "I'm a teacher. I am great with kids. You don't know me but let me watch the children in your Sunday school class". It would be unwise for them to accept this offer without vetting the person. I'm reminded of Luke 14:10 "When you are invited, go and sit in the lowest place, so that when your host comes he may say to you, 'Friend, move up higher.' Then you will be honored." As much as we all chafe against procedures, sometimes they are put in place for a reason. If God is calling you to do this, He's aware of the church's guidelines. I would recommend apologizing. Going through the process. Let them get to know your sparkling personality. And then wait for them to ask you to come sing. Just my two cents. I don't know you or anybody at the Woodland church so please take this in the light with which it is shared. I pray for peace between you all.
They never gave me a chance. I was trying to contact the music ministry people. Yes, there are some details that aren’t posted. First I tried Emailing. No response. Then I put together a request in writing, along with a CD and Fdrive with songs on them and I know one was personally delivered to the man I was told who leads the music ministry. No response. I gave it to him personally. With a bit of explanation in person. That was two weeks ago. No response. I put together a similar package and gave it to someone who said they laid it on the pastors desk. Two weeks goes by, still no response. Then I’m in the chapel after a service trying to contact the guy I gave it to in the first place and was approached by Scott who pretty much ordered me to follow him outside. I had no idea who he was but apparently he was a guy you better kiss the boots of. I had a discussion with him where he TOLD Me that I had to follow PROTOCOL to get to speak to anyone. Well that seems a bit strange to me as this was the first time in my LIFE that has happened.
Since he believed I was going to keep going out of “protocol” he called me and gave me that message. I DID apologize and told him that I was willing to go through with their request and I was already signed up for a "starting point" class that they wanted me to go to and his answer was a big fat NO. And yes, I appreciate your wonderment, but frankly, in all the years of ministering that I did, NEVER ONCE did I meet someone who acted like some cop with a chip on his shoulder like I did with Scott. It was MY WAY or NO WAY. Well here I am…you don’t know “their side of the story”. But maybe you can Email them and ask. Which is what I asked folks to do here and I’d like to read what their response is. I get your point. It’s well taken, BUT…
Sorry this happened to you Mark... Perhaps the elders at Woodland Hills Family Church should have read Mattew 18. But God does often move in mysterious ways. Perhaps you are being protected from something...
One thing that happened is I walked into a nearby fellowship and felt a feeling of grace in the people on Wednesday night. I met the pastor and was told by a friend that he is looking forward to meeting with me Monday. I’m looking forward to the meeting also.
These are the words that came to me after reading this, God works in mysterious ways. But still its a hard sandwich to swallow to be treated in such a tyrannical way by a "Christian" church.
I’ve come to the same conclusion. Unless there is a major change of heart in that place by the “leaders” the flock will soon be scattered and the building will be sitting there empty.
I think He would take His guitar and stand on the sidewalk (public property) and sing His songs. He would probably also have a friend filming it and to be a witness to the inevitable confrontation with Scott and the king’s soldiers (police) as He exercises His 1st amendment rights. Then He would post it on Facebook.
Except I don’t play a guitar! But you know what I’ve been seriously thinking about that if a friend will drive me there so that I don’t have my car stolen. The only other issue holding me back is my 70 year old wife who had an accident a couple of weeks ago that is still recuperating from being hit in the drivers door by a car going 55 MPH. She wouldn’t be happy if I ended up in a cage and she couldn’t have her porta potty emptied or have some food brought to her. BUT I LOVE YOUR ANSWER!! It would most likely be EXACTLY what He would do!
Why would you even consider going back there in a different car? I'm sure you don't think you deserve to sing there on account of an inspiration, which can come from either ourselves, from God or from the devil.
Spiritual discernment is very important. Have you heard of the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius of Loyola? (He has been greatly slandered by the enemies of Christ & by those ignorant of the truth): ccel.org/ccel/ignatius/exercises/exercises
In it there is an excellent part on discernment of spirits.
Because I’m not you. And because Yahweh does things differently with everyone. Thinking about it doesn’t mean I’m going to do it. And yes, I know that Jesus does say that if you have the thought that it like having done it. I think it is all according to what the thought is.
Yes, and when the intention is there and has been fulfilled in the past the thought becomes deadly. Sow a thought and you reap an action; sow an action and you reap a habit; sow a habit and you reap a character; sow a character and you reap a destiny. I don't want the destiny I was heading to. As for "Gods" name, yes, I prefer to call Him by what it is. Just as Jesus' real name translates to Yahshua from the original text, which I also prefer. https://bornagainclassics.com/MarkReynolds-MP3s/KingofZion/02-MarkReynolds_KingofZion,Judah'sLion.mp3
I am not Protestant, so I realize I might be making an inappropriate suggestion, but shouldn't you just see the behavior of Scott as a giant red flag and just go somewhere else? As an Orthodox Christian, I drive over am hour to get to church because our churches are free and far between, but to my eyes, there's a Protestant church on every corner. What's so special about this one? One guy suggested you contact them? To me, this is no different than the dating advice I give my daughter. If you see a red flag, walk away. Don't be like the women who marry men with problems and try to change them. Just find another church. Honestly, Scott seems like a jerk, and obviously is not a good representative of any Christian church, but you don't need to make it your problem. Let it remain his problem and that parish's problem.
I'm not planning on returning. I hope nothing I posted suggested that. They have some major issues if one guy can act like some Pretorian guard of the fiefdom.
Sorry to hear that happened but I have a story as well. Years ago my younger son, who is very into music and volunteered to feed the homeless with the church and attended groups, wanted to sing or rather participate with the singing/audio of a smallish church. Sadly, instead of accepting someone (yes he has a good voice and willing to learn) and mentoring him not only with singing but in his faith they said "no you aren't good enough". Well now years later he has lost faith in that church and pretty much people in general. Still loves music but was very turned off by what happened. Praying for his turnaround.
I believe that we always seek approval. It’s one of our traits. If you have a youth where your mother and father never gave you approval, you will always be looking for it. I have no doubt that is one of my traits. It isn’t bad, it makes you more of a “perfectionist” in the long run. You want to do the best you can, ESPECIALLY for your redeemer!
I have suffered Witches that claimed to be Baptists and acted very badly in pretending to be trying to convert me and every time I was about to ask them to leave - I was in a public place where they targeted me - but almost unsettled enough at their tag-team near abuse and disrespect, then they would become polite again, and that happen an number of times and when they were leaving one of the Witched said goodby and with effort touched my forearm as they were leaving and strangely I started to become enraged and it was growing and then without my thinking I called our Jesus Christ 3 times and the rage disappeared.
My point in sharing is that not all that profess to be Christians are, some are Servants of Satan, and their mission is to leave others thinking badly of Christians and His Church.

As I was raised as a non-practicing Quaker, I fell in love with Rational thinking in 5th Grade applied to Science and in deterministic realities at 7th grade with Computer Programming and absorbed all I could find - pre-web or anything like that - into University where I was offered a staff job in research lab and worked my last 2 years for degree and adult career of that and similar .. my real religion was Scientificism that blocked all religious Faith - as the Modernist and other minions shaped it to do.
About a decade ago the Holy Spirit lifted my darken intellect and evil-Blindness and I was freed from the demon(s) that Oppressed me, and with some Holy Inspiration I became a Catholic, and after a few years I shifted away from the Satanic Directed Vatican and the new-Rite soul-murdering post-Vatican II Mess-and-Hell - shifted to the Traditional Catholic Church and dove into Theology and Apologetics - Blessed as it sounds you are again.
I used to sit in my WheelChair on the public pedestrian street downtown Burlington Vermont waiting for our daily Mass and watch and talk to people, after being there a long-time people know you are stable and will talk, and homeless know I was good for 2 dollars of cup of coffee and human talk and listening and sometimes suggestions .. I discovered that many of those I could talk to are amazed to be alive after all the near accidents and sometimes attempts or near attempts as suicide, and I suggest to them that in some reality they might have died (not a Catholic doctrine!) but God has a plan for you and you will have every opportunity to do it that His Love and Mercy can manage to give you.
I use to have a farm with animals and wife and child and I hated to move so much I wanted to die there - true story I would tell them - and one night I was not feeling well and instead of keeping wife up I would go downstairs and use the bathroom down there and sit or sleep on couch, well my son found me dead and blue in the morning and the EMT's got my heart going and 3 days in a coma I was .. well not myself about alive. I did later move out of that farmhouse and I though, yes, I did die there before I moved .. and I would suggest that God's plan for me was to have this talk with him - implying that God Loves him that much.
Well, I was going someplace specific with this but neighbor invited me to dinner and coffee talk, and now I'm back I have forgotten for now, but as soon as I send it, I will remember - I bet.
Thank you for your sharing of Holy Ghost inspiration!
My gift is the ability to share love of our God through music. TO have that gift stifled by men seems so unfair since I have seen the blessings it gave to so many. But as I said, HE opens doors that seemed closed. What His will be, will be done. I can share on here. I can share on Youtube. I can share at a gathering. I don’t need to share at a “mega Church”. To do so would boost the ego. I surely don’t need that! I have had many times in my life that my ego was boosted and if I need that, I can always remember it! I just love giving out blessings because when I do and someone is blessed it comes back to me. And that makes it worth it all. If someone else wants to stand in the way, I may be discouraged, but I can accept it, though sometimes not so quickly. Your story is interesting to say the least. The biggest blessing I had had recently was finding that 7100 people had watched a slideshow video someone had made using my recording. Will We Deny Him…The big question…WILL WE? I know I have. But no more. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-N4t1myYRI

I did apologize. Something like I apologized for whatever it is that has you so concerned. I've signed up for the Starting Point class and would just like to come and take that and bring my wife...ANSWER BACK...Not until further notice. Well I got my notice. The King of Kings notified me to stay away from this place. Doesn't mean I'm not going to warn others that either are going there or are there already as to what kind of man/men are behind the leadership. Oh and the Spirit has already guided me to a more local fellowship that is only a couple of miles from where I reside. The message it got from Father was simply... So come on my soul, oh, don't you get shy on me Lift up your song, 'cause you've got a lion inside of those lungs Get up and praise the Lord Sooooo.....BLESSED BE YOUR NAME! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qY4Mdfxugk0
Which is why our heavenly Father makes differences in each of us. As for ME, yes I will take my talents away from them. He says to me they don't deserve the blessings HE bestows on the listeners through me. As for my tongue He will guide me into what to say or not to say. He says call a tyrant a tyrant and a bully a bully.
I hate this has happened to you and your family. But the church has become infected with woke thinking too. Soros is spending millions and millions to advance his march of Marxist ideology to sway the voters. Maybe God put you there for a reason yet unknown. Perhaps you can show what a true follower of Christ is.
Unfortunately what you encountered is the true state of many, many churches and fellowships in my experience. By evil controlling the head, much easier to direct the flock in a particular direction. Just as easy as the Scoffield Bible. Putting them side by side is where you see how subtly changing of words changes meanings(called Neuro-Linguistic Programming) To read just the Scoffield by itself, you'd never know. It does not mean there aren't serious people there, but.... One of my favorite stories is of Charles Finney and Father Nash back in the early 1800's. Part of the 2nd Revival I believe is what they called it. People were coming to the Lord and repenting in a wave that swept the country with many awesome things happening. Whole towns. Father Nash would arrive in town about 4 weeks before the revival. Would find a couple of like minded individuals, and they would lock themselves up in a hotel room, praying and interceding for the whole town. Asking that the Lord would reveal himself in power to those that had ears to hear. To have that much power in prayer you have to be really careful HOW you pray or it is witchcraft(huge responsibility). Oh, and the miracles that would happen were off the hook. And often only three people interceding. When Father Nash died, the revivals stopped. That being said, let me know when, and I'd be more than happy to pray with you for a bit for clear vision, and open doors, and anyone else that would want to join. Why not? Just a suggestion if you're interested.
I’m interested. I feel so called to share my gift again. I can see just by some of the responses on “Is There Room” that I NEED to do this. It’s part of who I was for a long period of time and who I AM now again. Contact me on my PM and we can set up a time and maybe have some sort of conference call. Thank you for the blessed offer. Finding the video on Youtube where the creator used “Will We Deny Him” was also one of those wake up calls. To think that it has been up SEVENTEEN YEARS, almost the time when I started to slide into the pits of hell, and I find it. What can that be saying? In the interim the song was blessing people and the answer to it from my perspective was YES. I DID deny Him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-N4t1myYRI
In every town there are churches like this one. Authoritarian in their thinking. Pastors and ministers who see themselves as not teachers or dwellers but as mini-gods who use their powers to control and sometimes shame. Sometimes it is best to just keep them at arm’s length especially given these guys are using police to intimidate. Meaning they won’t hesitate to follow thru.

How about even better, to shake their dust off your feet, as Jesus told his disciples to do to those who would not listen to them.
Thanks. That’s what I’m doing. But the “leadership” there needs to know that there is a problem. Maybe this will be the way they find out.
Sorry this happened to you Mark... Perhaps the elders at Woodland Hills Family Church should have read Mattew 18. But God does often move in mysterious ways. Perhaps you are being protected from something...

Or maybe this is God’s way of exposing the corruption within the church
These are the words that came to me after reading this, God works in mysterious ways. But still its a hard sandwich to swallow to be treated in such a tyrannical way by a "Christian" church.
I sent them an email and told them they could not possibly be Christians because of the way they treated you. It is not a place God wants you to be.
"Yours Alone" is beautiful.
I’ve come to the same conclusion. Unless there is a major change of heart in that place by the “leaders” the flock will soon be scattered and the building will be sitting there empty.
O, but woe unto the shepherds
Who abuse My sheep and kill
With harshness and severity
You’ve bent them to your will
And today I am against you
As I take them from your hand
When the fire of judgement comes
The stubble will not stand!”
Then darkness filled the valley
And I saw it take up form
Screaming winds and fire and lightning
More than any earthly storm
Where it passed were no survivors
For the land was cleansed and bare
But the streams flowed clear and purified
And the grass grew green and fair
I said in the email that if I were a member of the church I would find a better place to go.
It is one of the most beautiful songs that I have ever been given the privilege to minister to His people. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yLOcQDkhYs
What would Jesus do?
I think He would take His guitar and stand on the sidewalk (public property) and sing His songs. He would probably also have a friend filming it and to be a witness to the inevitable confrontation with Scott and the king’s soldiers (police) as He exercises His 1st amendment rights. Then He would post it on Facebook.

I can appreciate that.
Sorry your wife is suffering. I prayed for her to feel better soon and for you to receive grace and guidance.
Cheers!
Why would you even consider going back there in a different car? I'm sure you don't think you deserve to sing there on account of an inspiration, which can come from either ourselves, from God or from the devil.

Woodland Hills Church has been “MARKED” for a visit by the Holy Spirit of Judgement.
I can concur. The treating of a believer in the one who rules the universe the way they did will not be taken too lightly by Yahweh Elohim.

I’m not surprised. They have gone dark on the whole subject. It’s ridiculous.

Apologize and request that they returned to you, your demos and CDs. Offer them on a better alter somewhere else. Be humble.

Well, as for me, I would take my talents peacefully and serenely as far from these tyrants as I could get.
And for me, I’d be careful of my tongue 👅 and I would only say positive good things about them - only truthfully , of course.
Which is why our heavenly Father makes differences in each of us. As for ME, yes I will take my talents away from them. Soros is spending millions and millions to advance his march of Marxist ideology to sway the voters. Maybe God put you there for a reason yet unknown. Perhaps you can show what a true follower of Christ is.
WELL I CAN VOUCH FOR AT LEAST ONE EMAIL THEY’VE GOTTEN 😎. Sounds like Satan has infiltrated that church. How sad.
Anyone reading the majority of these comments...realize they were put here before my revision.
