Here is a page that I found due to a search that was prompted by a comment below...it was written in 2012 by Michael Snyder: https://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/24-outrageous-facts-about-taxes-in-the-united-states-that-will-blow-your-mind/

AND YES, it WILL blow your mind. A couple of high lights...

The U.S. tax code is now 3.8 million words long. If you took all of William Shakespeare’s works and collected them together, the entire collection would only be about 900,000 words long.

According to the National Taxpayers Union, U.S. taxpayers spend more than 7.6 billion hours complying with federal tax requirements. Imagine what our society would look like if all that time was spent on more economically profitable activities.

75 years ago, the instructions for Form 1040 were two pages long. Today, they are 189 pages long.

There have been 4,428 changes to the tax code over the last decade. It is incredibly costly to change tax software, tax manuals and tax instruction booklets for all of those changes.

According to the National Taxpayers Union, the IRS currently has 1,999 different publications, forms, and instruction sheets that you can download from the IRS website.

Our tax system has become so complicated that it is almost impossible to file your taxes correctly. For example, back in 1998 Money Magazine had 46 different tax professionals complete a tax return for a hypothetical household. All 46 of them came up with a different result.

In 2009, PC World had five of the most popular tax preparation software websites prepare a tax return for a hypothetical household. All five of them came up with a different result.

The IRS spends $2.45 for every $100 that it collects in taxes.

According to The Tax Foundation, the average American has to work until April 17th just to pay federal, state, and local taxes. Back in 1900, “Tax Freedom Day” came on January 22nd.

When the U.S. government first implemented a personal income tax back in 1913, the vast majority of the population paid a rate of just 1 percent, and the highest marginal tax rate was just 7 percent.

And that was in 2012...ELEVEN YEARS AGO. What is it like NOW??? The middle class is disappearing fast, especially with INFLATION now.

On one hand, we must starve the government by any way possible cuz they are killing us as fast as possible. On the other hand, not to be dole dependant. But for those of us that gave them our taxes for 40 years deserve our monies back. Tell me what our life expectancy is now? Answer; Babies are dying from the jabs, or are simply not conceived due to the poisoning of their would-be parents. Life is now predicted to be impossible, its a life un-expectancy, they want us dead by their or own hands as soon as possible. So. Remove the machine that is killing us.

The only way we can actually "starve" them is refuse to obey their commands and be willing to defend ourselves against unlawful aggression that they may pursue. The taxes were used to fool us into thinking they needed them. I'm thinking that 5GW is about to erupt the more they keep screwing with people.

My thoughts, too.

But how can we refuse to pay taxes, when they PRE-EMPTIVELY take them out of our paychecks???? That makes me so fucking angry!!!!!!!!!

It used to be done by private companies paying a fair amount to the property owners to run trains through their land. And then of course there were those who threatened the home owners like a modern day mafia. Roads always seem to be the issue for a lot of folks. HOW could it be done WITHOUT someone working for the government doing it? I don't know. Let's just do with what we have for a while and fix the pot holes. Seems to me that would be a USE fee on those who use the roads via an extra charge on tires, gasoline, repair parts etc. We really don't need anyone who doesn't know crap about roads working on them. As for paying? Maybe it would be nice if we used real money to do the paying.

If you are like most Americans, paying taxes is one of your pet peeves. The deadline to file your federal taxes is coming up, and this year Americans will spend more than 7 billion hours preparing their taxes and will hand over more than four trillion dollars to federal, state and local governments. Americans will fork over nearly 30 percent of what they earn to pay their income taxes, but that is only a small part of the story. As you will see below, there are dozens of other taxes that Americans pay every year. Of course not everyone pays all of these taxes, but without a doubt we are all being taxed into oblivion. It is like death by a thousand paper cuts. Our politicians have become extremely creative in finding ways to extract money from all of us, and most Americans don’t even realize what is being done to them. By the time it is all said and done, a significant portion of the population ends up paying more than half of what they earn to the government. That is fundamentally wrong, but nothing will be done about it until people start demanding change. The following is a list of 97 taxes Americans pay every year…

Yet despite all of this oppressive taxation, our local governments, our state governments and our federal government are all absolutely drowning in debt.

When the federal income tax was originally introduced a little more than 100 years ago, most Americans were taxed at a rate of only 1 percent.

But once they get their feet in the door, the social planners always want more.

Since that time, tax rates have gone much higher and the tax code has exploded in size.

Why do we have to have the most convoluted tax system in the history of the planet?

Why can’t things be simpler?

I can remember sales tax at 4%. Now it's 8%. And then there is the INFLATION tax which is what it really is: "...Keynes argues that inflation is a 'method of taxation' which the government uses to 'secure the command over real resources, resources just as real as those obtained by [ordinary] taxation'. 'What is raised by printing notes, ' he writes, is just as much taken from the public as is a beer duty or an income tax.' "

- 1980 Annual Report, Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, pg 10

And YET, the founding fathers wanted it to stay separate countries (states) under one common agreement. The US Constitution. The 10th Amendment should clear that up for you. As for "readiness response, support, and Unity" THAT is what the MILITIAS were to be used for if need be. Ready at a minutes notice.

You have raised a great point. Maybe it was too much to expect of a bunch of our ancestors that they included measures to police themselves? After all they invoked all those beautiful words but left female Americans, Native Americans and Black Americans out in the cold. Not a bad idea to include enforced methods of self regulation on the legislators but maybe it can be approached from a different perspective. More on that later i hope.

At this juncture in time, who NEEDS legislators? We need to roll back "laws" to only include those that cover a DAMAGED party. All these laws on the books today that are there as a way to force more revenue from the public. Smoke a joint, get a $1500 fine if caught. How much more lucrative can it be for the thieves that run the show. I see some fat ass that takes up two chairs collecting "personal property" taxes, paid for doing NOTHING of value, getting in her new Lexus and going home to a nice $200,000 home paid for with a salary stolen from working people who actually provide goods and services.

Another great point thanks. What good is legislation when we have forgotten how to interpret the spirit of individual independence underscored by the constitution. Most laws today are written to or interpreted to protect the Feds and enrich the rich & powerful. The real Wild West. Every man, woman, & child for themselves. As I’ve advised from the beginning of 2020 we would be best off if we dare to stop paying taxes. The Feds know this this the thousands of hired armed enforcers.

“A regrettably large share of our legal experiences operate not in the shadow of the Constitution and its constraints, but rather in the shadow of explicitly unconstitutional rules, actions, and orders. In the time it takes for improper Executive Orders to be reined in, for illicit administrative decisions to be corrected, and for misinterpretations of constitutional power to be overturned, so much of society’s activity is framed by what we might call the not-Constitution — all those acts of government that are deemed illegal only after they have caused enduring harm. A most troubling aspect of government power is its insistence on pushing past constitutional constraints and operating in a blurry legal wilderness of its own creation while forcing Americans to prove that those power grabs lack legitimacy.” ~ J.B.
