Thank you for this. It was a very interesting read.
What’s most interesting in this story about Washington is how deists’ basic belief is that God is separate and distant from us, and there is no divine providence, (protective and spiritual care,) governing the affairs of men, yet … here is an open example of God sending a vision to a deist, Washington, so he could “see and learn”, which is … providing protective and spiritual care! 🤣 Divine providence. Maybe after just such a vision Washington moved to Christianity from deism. And that impacted his decisions and crafting of our nation.
Most Christians evolved from a different prior belief. The fact that they once believed something different doesn’t mean they must have believed that way the rest of their life. Their perspectives don’t all simultaneously switch overnight either. It’s a progression over many years, but their acknowledgement of the truth about God and Jesus is usually instantaneous and is what keeps them moving in the direction towards God and His Word.
I wonder if that 99 year old man was telling the truth, and why he would never have shared it with anyone else in all his years. Surely he also would have known the necessity of more than one witness to make a historical claim credible. Still, I do believe it could have happened just as he said it did. God was certainly involved in the creation of our nation by being present in the hearts and minds of our founding fathers. Just look at our Constitution. Man is completely incapable of creating such a protective document that wholly preserves ALL freedoms and the power OF AND BY the people, the governed. Man’s selfish and sinful heart can’t help but sabotage something like that. Just look at today’s government that vividly proves this more than anything else, but, somehow we have an unselfish, wholly protective Constitution. If that’s not a modern day miracle and divine providence I don’t know what is. Man never changes. We didn’t go from good to evil in almost 250 years. We have always been evil and full of selfish ambitions. There were just as many Bidens and Harrises and Clintons and Obamas and elite oligarchs back then when Washington lived and they worked with him on the Constitution. Yet bam, there it is, as it is.
God has always been involved in the affairs of men and the Old Testament clearly shows His desire to be personally involved in His creation. God made it clear in the New Testament that He no longer dealt with man in the same way as he did in the Old Testament, with earth shattering events to be widely seen by all, fire from the sky, partings of the sea, angels coming down to earth openly to do his will, booming voices from the heavens, prophets, literal finger of God making His will known, etc. No, he now had a new way, to send His Holy Spirit to us, to dwell inside our physical body alongside our own sinful spirit so that anyone who chooses God and makes himself available to His Spirit will be used by Him to carry out His will, which can only be done with the help of His Spurit inside them. That means the opposite is also true, those who reject God open their hearts to the opposite of who He is and are influenced by ungodly spirits. And the New Testament gives us everything we need to discern and test what we see. If someone does not display the fruits of the Spirit but claims to be doing God’s will, they are a false prophet or a false teacher. Clear as day. God did not leave us with only blind faith. He gave us everything needed in his word to use our intelligence and see the truth for ourselves. And that all was given to us 1700 years before the construction of our Constitution. Even with our differences of interpretation and approach, His Spirit was still present within some of the authors if not most.
Granted you have to believe the Bible is the inspired true Word of God to agree with me, so I believe it is the single most important thing to investigate: the credibility of the Bible. To question all claims that it’s not and to follow all logic trying to prove otherwise to see where it stems from while using modern day investigative techniques and logic to ascertain its veracity.
A readily available string of logic that we would all agree with today is that anything that the modern day MSM says is probably NOT the truth. That if everyone in power is fiercely trying to block or censor or destroy the same person then that person is probably telling the truth and is a major, MAJOR threat to them. They won’t be threatened by a lie that can easily be disproven so they don’t waste the energy to repeatedly attack. But the truth is usually fiercely fought and the truer it is, the more fierce the attack against it will be. We all see that and get that today. It’s logical. Well similarly it is telling how Christianity is constantly attacked everywhere today, like in the Olympic opening, constantly the target of hate all over the world, even though its message is one of compassion, humbleness, sacrifice, and love. Yet of all the world religions it alone threatens people the most! Both at a personal, selfish desire level and a governing level. Christianity is the biggest threat to power, more than any other religion. It alone has to be destroyed and taken down. That tells me there is MORE truth to it than not, and if it is the only one Satan is going after (and it is,) then it must be the true Word of God. Why would Satan waste his time going after the red herrings? He has one goal and he has shown us his target, and it’s Christianity. Therefore, Christianity deserves a closer look just like the most attacked politicians do
Great comment. The problem with labelling someone a deist with a specific definition is that it really doesn’t work like that. Deists have one basic understanding but on top of it they have a lot of different opinions. The basic understanding is that there is a creator. That creator gave us reason, not religion. The rest is up to you if you understand that basic principle. Whether you want to believe as a deist that the creator does deal in the lives of man or not is up to you. I think that the creator does on occasion. Obviously not all the time for if a righteous young man who has never harmed anyone and has as pure of a heart as can be expected from a young man is killed by a lightning strike on his way walking to school, that shows that the creator isn’t to interested in some of the things of life we take for granted. I appreciate you well thought out comment, but we definitely have some ground that we don’t come to terms with.
I believe other Founding Fathers were Free Masons. The idea that Masons are One World Government domination devotees does not gel with members like Washington. Sometimes generalization-- all ____ are____, is just to sway opinion. We need to be critical of info put out by our side in addition to the other side.
I don't know enough about them to really judge. I have read a book that I have around here somewhere by a 33rd degree mason that became a whistle blower and was adamantly against the teaching of the 33rd degree which anyone below has no idea of. I'd have to look hard for it.
A gentleman farmer, George Washington was a man of many talents. He was a patriotic freedom fighter. He was a legislative leader. He was a man of faith and vision. The Father of our country had a direct link to our Father in Heaven. We the people, who have inherited the great republic he helped bring forth, owe it to him and his fellow patriots to not let what they created fall into the chasm of fallen republics. The future of Washington's republic depends on us.
Maybe after this vision he became a Christian. I believe God has blessed this beautiful country of ours but He may have to bring about what’s coming to bring Americans to her knees in unity of prayer again. We never fully know His plan but scripture tells us sometimes something drastic must happen in order to wake the sleeping masses. Not all will be saved, but believers win in the end no matter what! Faith in His divine plan is good enough for me.
Doesn’t mean I will not fight when trouble comes, but I will have faith.
I always learn a piece of history I never knew when I read your articles. I had no idea of this vision. Do you think we have had these abilities taken from us over the centuries? Gifts of the Holy Spirit? Has society made it harder for us to hear Him? I often wonder about this.
Have you ever really looked at what deists believed? Thomas Paine was one. Thomas Jefferson was one. http://deism.com
Check this out. I was at a concert that he put on at a church in South Florida and I asked him where he got the words and he said...I had a Vision... You'll love this one. It gives me those goosebumps all over every time I listen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPHEXuPFPio Don Francisco...VISION of the VALLEY
The hopium propaganda of the followers of the founders. They were men and the wrote better paper than they could live up to. When we return to a Constitutional republican form of government this year 2024. We will need to clean this up also. The founders could and did lie, cheat, steal and kill along the way. What they created is what counts The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America 1776; 1777 The Confederation and perpetual Union's The United States of America's Constitution circa 1859.
