I am no theologian but a mere believer in the Bible as the word of God. In my humble understanding, which is my own, the Tribes are all over the 'earth' just as any other 'tribe' many have intermarried but not as many as one believes for this group has pretty much avoided lots of intermarrying up to 20th- 21st century for the most part.
The interpretation of Jesus speaking to Israel only was that they were
'lost' due to asking God for miracles etc. as willingly provided, they killed their prophets, ( no one really likes the 'Truth" ( as many truth tellers here have learned) and the Priests at the time (and probably to this day) prefer POWER thus forcing major 'religious laws' over it's people. And turned their back on God from the OT preferring Pagan women and of course Pagan worship...
Did you know the Priests checked for cleanliness and health issues? Like DOCTORS?
The priests and such with all the mega-focus on cleanliness, works, guilt etc. and as usual since man prefers to 'LORD' over man which God never agreed to. God was disappointed. OT prophecy was that Jesus was to come from the house of David ( royal lineage) as a 'High Priest', Rabbi, Teacher, Master, King, Lord etc.' in order to instruct the house of Israel (Nation) as God elected this group to be the teachers to the Nations. This decision was based on Abraham's FAITH ( invisible belief) so they would TEACH the rest of the Nations about Jesus.
Jesus NEVER left Israel area, spoke to a Samaritan women and was pretty clear to her he was not to speak to her for she was not a Jew....He spoke to the people in crowds who were mixed but mostly as far as scriptures to Jews, the Apostles were to speak only to Jews as Peter was called upon by God to speak and eat with Romans, and he even argued with God refusing 3 times to go and eat 'unclean foods'! Paul recieved divine intervention outside of the Apostles who learned from Jesus, to Travel outside of Isreal and speak to the Nations about the new covenant...
Which included Jews who believe in Jesus and people from the Nations....
Many DO claim to be of Judah and are not, for the bible explains that there is/was division North and South of Israel, and those that believed in Jesus were true, but those that did not follow... well....
The Bible is not Black and White in what sense? The God of the bible is the only one who preaches Salvation and specifies very clearly what is expected of persons who wish to follow the path.
Good vs. Evil and a wide road and narrow road kind of thing...He is not wishy washy...
I got into understanding the Bible, NOT because I wanted to 'believe' but wanted to disprove an argument, and find fault in the Bible and with those who were professing knowledge of it.
It is such an interesting book because it reveals itself to those who want to search it... I was searching to disprove, one single issue...it took 3 years as I am but a babe in understanding.
Realize fully, I am providing easily refutable conversation here, for I have NOT taken the time to CITE the specific places in the Old and New Testament that proves the above illustrations....
IF you wish, I can search them out...
Also, please, for anyone else who chooses to read this, I will NOT argue or get into theology etc.
I was merely responding to a question posed to me as best I saw fit, without biblical citations, I am no expert, am a simple person, DO NOT want to argue , am NOT telling anyone they are wrong, or anything. I do not belong to any denomination and do not believe in 'religion'....
Scripture reveals itself...if your book or belief system reveals itself and proves itself repeatedly after reading and reading and makes complete sense to you...GREAT!
"The Bible is not Black and White in what sense?" If you are Baptist they take it literally. If you are a Pentecostal, they take it spiritually. If you are any of the other hundreds of denominations, they take it the way they interpret it. Why is that? I have no doubt the bible is useful in many ways, but there are also some rather challenging stories in it that make no sense if you use your reason, logic and common sense which you are typically told to leave at the church thresh hold. I will PM you privately as I don't want to start a debate on the issues in public. I hope that is OK.
Interesting stuff and some good comments. In the last week or so (August 2024) the transAmerica hiker Matt Hengst has often crossed the Arkansas river in west Kansas and maybe eastern Colorado and it's not much at that point, but you can imagine it's bigger elsewhere and was much bigger in the olden times.
I can't be convinced that our creator was an astronaut, but I have my suspicions that we are a manipulated species that may have been some sort of experiment by aliens. The crop circle phenomenon is one that I've always wondered about. The part in the first Thrive dealing with them is quite interesting. And that whenever world affairs start going south there seems to be a lot more sightings and strange phenomenon connected to aerial vehicles not of this world. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LW--rJDqyhs
I'd be interested in hearing why this God couldn't be an astronaught? You say that we were made in God's image (our creator).Serious Question: Did God have a penis and a virgina? If God created us why, according to the heavily edited bible, did he spend so much time as a genocidal maniac murdering his creations?
Where did I say we were made in God's image? And as for your "If God created us why, according to the heavily edited bible, did he spend so much time as a genocidal maniac murdering his creations?" Good question. Which is one of the many reasons that I'm not so keen on using the bible to beat people over the head with. If you would like to see where I lean try checking out http://deism.com SOMETHING made the creation, including the alleged aliens you speak of which are not "god". Did you check out the video link? I'd bet not.
I agree Sir. You didn't say it...I skipped straight to the bible saying that we are made in the creator's image. I couldn't find the video link but I will go the work on deism. I work on the question that there is an alleged god...and aliens are far more likely than a chemist, scientist, philosopher and surgeon...But, it is my opinion that the ancient cultures, those we are still seeking more information on...were our creators. The pattern of inhuman looking figures on ancient wall paintings do, in my opinion, point to visitors with knowledge still beyond ours.
The pictatorial evidence of flying machines, helmeted beings, and symbols.
I'll stick with my opinion that more research will provide us that the angels bringing news of a virgin birth were aliens sent from a ship that stayed in one spot above a certain point.
So what do you supposed ever happened to the 10 tribes that went into dispersion? Where are they today? And why does Jesus say he only came but to the “lost sheep of the house of Israel”? Matthew 15vs24 And if there were 12 tribes, where are all of them today? What if those who are claiming to be of Judah aren’t? What if they fit the scripture in Revelation 3vs9? Just curious…I’m always curious. I don’t see the bible in black and white. I see lots of hidden knowledge that needs to be unlocked.
That is the Beauty of Free Will, to choose, do other Deities offer the individual that option?
With clear delineation explanation, ' prophecy' of what results may befall an individual/ nation (s) due to the choices they decide to enact?
I don't know...
So, everyone has a choice...
Seems most everything has a binary option. That book describes many incidences and descriptors of what results and consequences occur when one consciously walks through life aware of their chosen destination/and what happens when they choose to ignore the consequences completely.
The sad part is the convoluted beliefs that drive the multi denominational Christian world into confusion. For instance, look at what the common belief of Romans 13 was at the time of the founding of the US compared to what that same chapter is today. Literally opposite meanings, driving many “Christians” into false idol worship as they bow before the psychopathic control freak parasites that rule us through the “state”.
Exactly, thus WHY Jesus was killed was again: The Rotten People in CHARGE ( Pharisee) feared loosing:
Control over the $$$/ people
Mind Controlling the Population
Their status in life-lording over the ignorant masses...
-Sound familiar?
Mind control over the Nation of Israel..Pilot did NOT want to kill Jesus.
This is why Pilot washed his hands of the situation. He may have been aware crucifixion was for Romans, as the Jews separated themselves and had laws unto themselves...
Historically, the Nation of Israel STONED their Blasphemers... the DEMAND for the most cruel death was forced on Pilot, this was not his fight.
Thus the posting above Jesus' head...
Pilot was posting 'Not my Issue' basically... but
"King of the ..." to reiterated the perceived folly in his mind.
He did not want to loose his station and this final uproar under his governance would have ruined him if the population had rioted further.
-Sound familiar?
Mankind is unable to self-regulate. The final answer to dissidents in the earthly realm under man's rule is the usual...
Destroy the messenger...
- sound familiar
The God of the Bible offers a glimpse of a different future whereby faulty, horny, violent man must acknowledge his actions and by free-will decide to act on deciding his course for the remainder of his time on earth AND the afterlife as clearly specified by the Words in the Bible.
No fantasy of unlimited sex with unlimited virgins...
- that again focuses on physical bodily human desire..
I have been reading stories of Viking adventures and one came to the fore today. It was of Bjorn Ironside, the son of Ragnar Lothbruk tricking his way into a Roman city by pretending to be dead to get inside a Church. I've heard the story before but one talks of Harold, and another if Ragnar Lothbruk doing this to get into Paris...I guess that's how Bible stories are created
Maybe. How would we really know? The original “canon” of scripture was 80 books. The protestant reformation removed 14 of them leaving us with 66. What was “wrong” with the other 14? I’ve never been able to find a satisfying answer.
I wonder if they told of Jesus having brothers, and a wife. Children even. Perhaps they went into more detail about his relationship with a prostitute.
Sometimes a lot of these questions make me wonder. Since we weren’t there, how do we really KNOW anything is not just a “story” someone wrote back then.
There are many pointers towards the Roman scribe Paul writing many of the stories because certainly few of the disciples, being fishermen would have been able to write. And which author does not embellish?
“would have been able to write” Don’t you mean NOT been able to write?
Yes, most church goers put more emphasis on Paul’s writings then that of Jesus himself. They twist and distort so much of Paul’s writings to pacify their own convoluted beliefs on a lot of subjects. He’s the go to writer for most of Churchianity. I was politely asked to leave a church I attended because I didn’t see Romans 13 through the eyes of the majority of that particular group. I saw it through eyes of the likes of the founding fathers which is taboo today.
Forgive me for disagreeing. To KNOW something you would have had to experience it with your senses and even then those can be called into question. Believing something is what you are describing. For instance, all the research and comparison you can muster cannot PROVE outside of the actual experience that man landed on the moon. I’ve seen Superman fly too.
Another instance, I may BELIEVE that the flood written about in the bible that Noah was spared from covered the whole earth, but my research comes to the conclusion it was a localized flood to which I have to say I BELIEVE. Yet do I KNOW for sure? Is the earth 6000 years old? Has the moon ever stood still? Am I to believe that our creator had bears eat children because they laughed about Elijah’s bald head? Do I know that to be true?
I'll challenge the bible till I die...but let's suppose it's true. It simply confirms that this god of the bible was a genocidal maniac on a scale Hitler, Moa, Pol Pot, Stalin, Ghengis Khan and Vlad the Impaler together could only dream about.
-Most folks 'guess' at what prophecy is, and what 'stories' are in the Book of the Bible.
The Bible 'stories' can be proven through secular Archeology, and The reading of accurate legal records in Secular historical documents all the way back to cuneiform/ and Egypt. Many documents and paintings have been secured away so as not to prove the Bible's validity. It cites names of kings, and accurate locations of ancient cities etc.
It's a fun thing to research ( the Bible) but no fun to be mislead by hearsay.
Same as any other concept/ medicine/ food etc.
Best to RESEARCH for yourself, than take some person's opinion about it.
Search the Scriptures...
That's what they are there for!
All the best!
The difference between myth and 'stories' and how the Bible proves itself; is the PROPHETS.
Their writings were written for a specific group if people, specifically to warn them of impending consequences for disregarding their responsibilities.
I am NOT an expert, I went into studying the book to DISPROVE and argument with a friend..
Archeology is a great tool to advance some understanding of history. For instance in a thousand years time people will dig up the ruins of Washington and find scraps of information about it being the Capital of Democracy. When we all know it's the center of cartel criminals
The Flood cannot be verified world wide by scripture. Floods there were but not in the same century.
Do the documents prove how beings with superior knowledge of physics and construction were able to complete all the unexplained Wonders of the World in Turkey, South America, the Middle East? Definitely, knowledge from a distant culture.
The prophets? Were they spectators at the crucifixion and the rising. I mean were they there or were they history's equivalent of CNN?
READ the darn BOOK, it is like a college level process...
However there are many secular studies which prove a universal flood.
The actual stratus layers in the mud, do NOT equate with the stratus diagrams presented from 'earth scientists'. There are literal ' pools' of animal bones, etc. which demonstrate the 'pooling of water ' etc.
The rabbit hole is there for anyone to enjoy..
The Bible encourages its readers to challenge it. What other book? So COOL!!!
I'm challenging the bible every day. I challenge your assertion that every living thing was destroyed in one flood except for one ass licking family. But if we suppose the story is true,as I've said it makes this god bloke a genocidal maniac
Quite intriguing.
Isn’t it interesting that the number 17 keeps coming up all over the place?

One understood that the Continents of USA and South America are not identified in the Bible, since prophecy focus' specifically on Israel/ Jerusalem?
Is this prophecy directly scripture based we wonder?
Oh well, this seems as mysterious as 'Michaelzedek'
(I know, poor spelling) thus, will retain focus on scripture let the rest sort itself out for the ages!
Interesting concept however!
Thanks for the post...

Ernie, Great ideas to RESEARCH on our own to determine...
That is the beauty if Free Will we are able to choose to do diligence and search this info. put for ourselves!
The Bible, if one searches it, ENCOURAGES persons to do so.
That is one of the concepts in the book I found most fascinating...
The Prophets who existed at different times, often repeat the intended concepts repeatedly!

Courageous..
A person 'KNOWS' by research and comparison.
